Victor Mee Auctions Summer Garden Sale
10am – 5pm, Saturday May 25, 12pm – 6pm Sunday May 26, 10am – 5pm, Monday May 2, Victor Mee Auctions Ltd, Cloverhill, Cavan, more info here
Auctioneer Victor Mee’s annual Summer Garden Sale attracts bidders from across the world, with exterior architecture up for previews before the online auction commences on Tuesday, May 28. A giant 7ft high bronze crab, a cast iron statue of a pig, a rare 19th century Italian Carerra marble bath and an ornate bandstand all the way from the grounds of St. Louis Convent in Monaghan are some of the more unusual lots available for preview this weekend. “In over 40 years, this is the first time that we’ve hosted a 7ft bronze crab, that we expect to reach between €8,000 – €12,000,” says Victor Mee, “and there’s also an exceptional wrought iron English Victorian style glasshouse that would be a stunning addition to a large garden in the country. The rareness of our finds is exactly why we attract buyers from across Ireland and further afield. They come to our auctions to discover pieces that are unique finds and ‘one-offs’ that each have their own back stories, transcending current trends.”
