Making plans for the next few days? Here, we’ve rounded up some of the very best events happening around Ireland from Friday 21 — Sunday 23 April.
Conversations After Sex
Friday 21 & Saturday 22 April, Project Arts Centre
In unexpected conversations after anonymous sexual encounters, a woman discovers men with the same deep need to connect. Anchored by a stunning, tour-de-force performance by Kate Stanley Brennan, multi-award-winning writer Mark O’Halloran and director Tom Creed (Trade, Best New Play, Irish Times Theatre Awards 2011) reunite for this funny, tender and brutally honest new work from THISISPOPBABY.
The Useless Flea Market
Saturday 22 April, The Workman’s Club, Dublin
Ready for three floors of flea market fun? The Useless Project are bringing 30+ vendors old and new selling everything from funky vintage finds to colourful artist creations, jewellery, homeware and everything in between to The Workman’s Club, and there’s guaranteed to be a Grade A buzz throughout the afternoon. From art and jewellery to gadgets, homeware and clothing, there’s quite literally something for everyone.
Beauty Outside the Box
Saturday 22 April, Kildare Village
Team IMAGE are partnering up with Kildare Village for an exciting day of celebration and conversation about beauty – both inside and outside the box! We will be discussing all things skincare, make-up, and wellbeing with beauty industry experts like Pestle & Mortar’s Sonia Deasy, Millies’ Joanne Mahone, Skingredients’ Jennifer Rock and beauty editor Simone Gannon. In conversation with IMAGE Editorial Director Dominique McMullan, each expert will share their advice, experience and insider tips that you simply won’t want to miss. Finally, there will be a skincare masterclass and a make-up masterclass.
Pups in the Park
22 & 23 in Marlay Park, Dublin
This year, the paw-ty themed event expects over 12,000 dog lovers and their canine companions to walk the red carpet over the course of both events. Visitors will enjoy a fun-filled line up of doggy-inspired events and attractions including new additions such as ‘Dancing Dogs’ hosted by Crufts favourite Anne Shuker, or returning favourites such as the Puppy Play Pen, the Leader Bark Park, the Hay Bale Race or the Petinsurance.ie Obedience Ring. The hugely popular Chin Wag Talk Stage is also back for 2023, where the dogs as well as the humans can learn some new tips and tricks.
Cúirt Festival
Until Sunday 23 April, Galway city
Featuring an array of some of the most exciting Irish and international writers at work today, and spanning over 50 events, the 2023 Cúirt programme includes poetry, fiction, theatre, memoir, masterclasses, exhibitions, and family events. Weekend highlights include Sentimental Garbage: Podcast Live with Caroline O’Donoghue and Emer McLysaght, and A Changing Climate: Writing, Activism and the Environment with Manchán Magan and Emma Must.
Flea Style Market
Sunday 23 April, Aras na nGael, Galway
Galway’s longest running indoor thrift market returns this weekend, and there’s set to be a seriously impressive selection of pre-loved, handmade, and vintage items for you to browse through. An ideal event for the weekend that’s in it, this flea market comes just after World Earth Day, and it provides an accessible and fun way to dip your toe into the slow, sustainable fashion realm.
