Nothing adds a flash of heat to your make-up look easier than a bright orangey lip. For a day time look, red can be a little too severe, unless you’re used to it, but somewhere between orange and red is the perfect compromise. What’s more, there’s little else you’ll need to do, other than define your brows. You don’t even really need eye make-up. Orange-toned lipsticks go particularly well when you’re rocking a tan, but of course there are many options these days that don’t involve exposing your face to those harmful sun rays. Below we round up some of our absolute favourites for your perusal.
Relatively new to the Bobbi Brown lip collection, the Art Stick is any lipstick maven’s must-have. It’s super easy to apply – more so than standard lipstick bullet – as it’s a pencil first and foremost. However, unlike other lip pencils, this one isn’t remotely drying. It lasts all day too, so much so, you’ll probably need some elbow grease to remove it. We’re in love. This particular shade is ‘Hot Orange’ but you can get them in bright pinks and deeper reds too. €26 and a Limited Edition collection so get ’em while they’re hot!
Chanel’s Rouge Coco in 416 (also named ‘Coco) is perfect for lips that demand more hydration.?The bright lip colour features an exclusive complex with Jojoba and Mimosa Butters, Sunflower?Wax?and’silicone?for?lasting?hydration?and?luminous’results. This shades moves away from red entirely, leaving you with the warmest, almost teracotta-like stain. €31
For those who don’t want to stray too far from their beloved scarlett colour, MAC’s Lady Danger is an orange-based red and the perfect inbetween fix. It’s a big hit here in IMAGE headquarters. Here’s Kate Bosworth demonstrating how best to wear an orange-based lippie. No need for anything heavy duty elsewhere. €19.50
Feeling more daring? MAC’s Morange is the shade for you. It’s bright, bold and a major show-stopper. Perfect for gals who love to wear black. €19.50
