A new season means new silhouettes, shapes and textures for our wardrobes and in terms of beauty, AW 2016 is all about appreciating your uniqueness; highlighting the features that enhance and make you stand out from the crowd.
On the catwalks, designers chose to do something a little different this season by forgoing uniformity and highlighting a particular point on the models face. It isn’t about having a clone of outfits and looks, but embracing the individual. For example, while in previous seasons one lip colour was chosen for every model, during AW16, a variety of shades were used. Among the highlights were’dark pouts, flushed cheeks, grown-up glitter (perfect for the first whispers of the festive season),?and graphic liner.
Among our favourite AW beauty trends is plum pouts, demonstrated above by the eternally perfect Olivia Palermo. ?Here’s our pick of five trends you can try at home now to get ahead of the AW beauty game:
Plum Pouts
The lip shade of the season was undeniably rouge noir. Dark, mysterious berry tones ruled the runway throughout Paris, Milan, London and New York, from extra glossy to a striking matte. It’s all about clean precision this upcoming season – a variation of red lips for grownups. And if you’re looking for your perfect shade, it’s got to be the now iconic Chanel lipstick Rouge Allure Intense Long-Wear Luminous Lip Colour in Rouge Noir, €33.

Eccentric Eyeliner
For this trend, you can go dark and sultry, and pair it with a vibrant lipstick to set it off. Liquid eyeliner remained a firm favourite, whether it was clean or slightly smudged. If you’re not into going full vamp this season, you can also go bright and big as designer Jeremy Scott chose to do (see above).

All About A Smoky Eye
Models at Simone Rocha (above) had flawless skin and?a’striking take on a classic trend – very fitting considering the smoky eye rulebook was thrown out the window. It’s about mixing and matching; hard lines, soft lines and experimenting until you find the look that works for you.

Glorious Glitter
Yes, glitter tears are on trend again, but you can go as subtle or as in your face you’d like with this one. It isn’t about the standard?flick of glitter across the eyelids but application where you wouldn’t usually think to apply it, such as the eyebrows or the lips.

Messy Lashes
Eyeliner may be having a moment, but lashes were given equal attention on the AW runways. It’s okay to embrace a more casual – albeit clumpy – lash look. They are less defined, but striking on the face and are a great alternative if you want to pass on the liner yet still draw attention to your eyes.
