Amanda Seyfried is associated with her long golden princess hair in the same way Elizabeth Taylor and diamonds are forever entangled. We’re so used to seeing the actress with her cascading locks or an elaborate braid, that to contemplate an Amanda with shorter hair is messing with the fuses in the celebrity watching part of our brain. However, we’re just going to have to cope, because the Mamma Mia actress went for the chop, and all in aid of a very good cause.
Seyfried decided to opt for a long bob / lob earlier this week, sharing the result on her Instagram. (For other lob inspirations, check out our gallery here.)
Amanda has donated the rest of her tresses to Locks of Love, a charity that gives wigs to children who have lost their hair because of medical conditions. What a beautifully meaningful act. Here’s Amanda’s beloved dog Finn wearing the wig that she’ll be giving to the charity and one very lucky child. (We presume it’ll be cleaned?)

While we can’t wait to see what Amanda will do with her lob, we do want to take some time to reflect upon what a brilliant long hair role model the Letters to Juliet star has been these past few years.
She is the queen of braids.
Where do these blowdries exist and can we have twenty?
The blush! The lipstain! The fairytale princess plait!
Does Veronica Lake need a biopic?
Again with the magical plaits.
Amanda Seyfried is the girl everyone hated at their debs.
Just out and about, looking like a fallen tousled angel.
This expression is basically “I know.”
This is the opposite of the gym ponytail.
