Beyonc? wowed us all at last night’s Super Bowl, but there’s another woman who also got the entire world talking in terms of a stand-out beauty look, and that is Lady Gaga. Dressed head-to-toe in glittering red Gucci, it was her high-hair and dramatic eye make-up which took centre stage alongside that?incredible voice.
This look is too OTT for the office, but as it’s Valentine’s Day at the weekend, there’s no better time to recreate this look for your romantic night on the town. You’ll look daring, sparkle and stand out from the crowd (also perfect if you’re looking for love).
Foundation
This is?a full-coverage look, but really you can go either way in terms of a base; the key is flawless skin as the eyes will be the focal point.
Be sure to prep your skin beforehand;?Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer (?31.50) is a?cult classic, the silicone base mattifies, plumps and preps skin to perfection and helps foundation look better and last longer.
Then, for a foundation that won’t budge, yet still looks natural, Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup (?38) is the way to go.?Come rain or shine, in place it will stay. It is nicely moisturising and you only need a few drops to cover the entire face. Buff it onto the skin using your foundation brush of choice, and you shouldn’t even need a powder as it’s perfectly matte. ?
Blush
Less is more with this look. Avoid anything too pink or red as you don’t want to clash with your eyes, so a peachy-hue would be ideal. You can opt for a powder, but a cream will work just as well, and look less severe.?We love Stila Convertible Colour (?32.50). It’s a multi-purpose that is a soft cream. Dab it lightly on the apples of your cheeks?for a subtle glow, and it can be used on lips too if you wish.
Eyes And Brows
It’s all about the eyes for this one. While Gaga’s own shadow is extremely bright, remember that you can get many different shades of red eyeshadow to suit your skin tone, and if you want to tone it down further, avoid the glitter and confine the bulk of the eyeshadow to the top of the lid only. Go into and around the bottom lash line with a softer taupe colour and it won’t look as severe. We love Mac’s Powder EyeShadow in Red Brick or Passionate (?16.50) and for a glitter option, Make Up For Ever’s?Glitters Red is ideal. To go all-out on the eyes, false lashes are your friend. MAC and No 7 both do a variety for €13.50 and €10.50 respectively. ?Or if you want to keep the look soft, mascara is just fine. For volume, ?L?Or?al Feline Volume Million Lashes mascara?is superb or any of these.
Keep the brows soft as well; lightly filling them in with a pencil will be ideal.?
Lips
Again, nothing too heavy here. A tinted lip balm or nude pink of your choice is best. MAC Patisserie Lipstick (?19.50) goes on like a dream.
