5 gentle eye make-up removers if you fiercely protect your lashes

Our lashes are very valuable. They grant us wishes.

Apparently, we’ve got 150 to 200 lashes on the top lid and between 75 to 100 on the bottom and lose one to four a day. If you’re with me in the belief that your lashes are like gold dust, too valuable to lose even a single one, like me, you probably prefer non-waterproof mascara to waterproof mascara. It’s impossible to take off! I would rather sleep in a little leftover mascara and reapply over it the next day than to lose a single lash.

If you can relate, here’s five super gentle eye make-up removers guaranteed to leave you with all your lashes while working hard enough to remove all your eye make-up. Any recommendations? Let us know.

Avène Intense Eye Make-Up Remover, €13.99

This new bi-phase formula from Avène is perfect if you have sensitive eyes or wear contacts and thanks to gentle emollients in the formula, there’s a soft finish on the eyes but no greasy residue. No lash scrubbing needed – just remember to shake the bottle before you apply it to your cotton pad. A must have for the sensitive-eyed who love heavy liner.

Bioderma Sensibio H20 Limited Edition Pump Bottle, €17

The OG micellar water, Bioderma sell one bottle of Sensibio H20 every two seconds around the world.  It’s back in the limited edition 500ml pump bottle this September so now is the time to pick it up – it lasts for ages, has the same pH as the skin (4.5 to 5.5), has no parabens, soap, fragrances or allergens, feels soothing on the skin and most importantly, gently removes the most stubborn of waterproof mascara, eyeliner and eyeshadows.

Lancome Bi-Facil, €29

This is another bi-phase formula that makes eye make-up remover quick and easy. When you’ve applied it to your cotton pad, hold it on the eye, then wipe. All product removed, no rubbing needed. It’s gentle, no oily residue and ophthalmologist tested for safety, meaning sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers can use it too.

Elemis White Flowers Eye and Lip Make-Up Remover, €22

This one flies under the radar but deserves your attention – if you’ve got a stubborn lip or heavy eye make-up on, this is a gentle bi-phase remover created with white peony extract to hydrate the skin, vitamin B5 to keep your lashes in good condition and white tea to soothe. Suitable for everyone, including sensitive eyes.

Lashes Love Water Based Make-Up Remover, €12.95

If you rely on semi-permanent lashes, this is the eye make-up remover for you. Looking after your lashes with the right products at home will guarantee the longevity of your lashes. The Lashes Love Water-Based Make-Up Remover will not weaken the adhesive eyelash bond or extensions but will absolutely remove all stubborn eye make-up.
