The greatest new beauty launches spotted at fashion week to try this AW20

If a beauty product can make it through the heavy lighting, HD photographers, wardrobe changes, and backstage chaos of fashion week, you can be sure it’s going to work hard for you all day too. This season’s highlights include a new take on MAC’s iconic Strobe Cream (you wouldn’t think it could improve, but it has), a bold blush from Nars and the eyebrow gel of your dreams.

MAC Strobe Face Glaze, €21.64

“This has been the hero of fashion week,” Lesley Keane, my fellow Kildare dweller and Global Senior Artist at MAC Cosmetics told me backstage at JW Anderson when she wasn’t busy perfecting Kaia Gerber’s make-up. She was holding up a little tube of shimmery gold. “We’re doing elevated polished beauty with a masculine edge today, using the new MAC Strobe Face Glaze. It’s is a mixture of our famous Strobe Cream, mixed with some balm so you get this amazingly polished skin.” I often hear make-up products being referred to as leaving a perfecting effect “like an Instagram filter” on the skin. This was the first time I ever found a product that this could be true of.

Remarkable Deals on NARS Blush Aroused 0.16 oz/ 4.8 g

Nars Cosmetics Blush in Aroused, €32

“To celebrate Rixo’s collaboration with Christian Lacroix, I wanted to marry the pops of colour that Rixo is known for,” said Vincent Ford, NARS Global Make-up Artist. “Inspired by the Lacroix shows of the early 2000s, I used NARS new blush shades to create a soft smoky eye in a mix of Rixo’s bold shades and added a jewel to the inner corner for an element of glamour.” It doesn’t get much more vibrant than this bold, deep burgundy blush used by Ford at Rixo.

Eyebrows Big Boost Fibre Gel | MAC Cosmetics - Official Site

MAC Eyebrows Big Boost Fibre Gel, €23.61

Brows are the hardest thing to get right with make-up, I think. Everyone has their own idea of what is right. Some want a dark brow. Some want a tamed brow. Some just want to look like they have an eyebrow. I personally like my eyebrows to look like they’re on a bender with Mick Jagger. I like them ruffled, choppy and flustered, and I brush them upwards, downwards and sideways; any way, basically, other than the way they naturally grow. This way of wearing your brows was prevalent at Richard Quinn, where lead artist Isamaya Ffrench created a look she says, “was all about the model’s natural beauty, we just accessorised that. It’s the mood of the clothes – it’s very feminine but with a tough graphic edge.” MAC’s new Fibre Brow Gel is the best eyebrow gel I have ever tried, and no matter which of these eyebrows appeals to you most, it can do it. It comes with little fibres in it that help you cheat your way to a bigger brow, gives fully pigmented brows in one-swipe, stays perfect for 12 hours and can do everything from a polished brow to my bender brow.
