From top Languedoc winemaker Gérard Bertrand, this new, elegant rosé just sums up the Meditteranean dreams we’ve been having this summer. The Côte des Roses Rosé is floral and inviting, with aromas of summer fruits, cassis and redcurrant with a dry, crisp finish.
Pasqua 11 Minutes Rosé, Veneto, Italy — €18.95
If you’re a seasoned rosé drinker, you’ll enjoy the wonder that is Pasqua 11 Minutes Rosé — the name comes from the 11 minute grape skin contact during the winemaking process, which gives this rosé such a distinct, salmon-pink colour. On the palate, you’ll taste fresh strawberry, raspberry and grapefruit, balanced by refreshing acidity and a long finish.
Château Riotor Rosé, Côtes de Provence, France — €18.95
A classic for a reason — Château Riotor has a fantastic definition of raspberry and cherry fruits, balanced by fabulous, refreshing acidity. If you can get your hands on this one, be quick — it’s one of the finest quality rosés in the world, crafted by top Châteauneuf-du-Pape producer, Mont Redon.
Rós Rosé, Navarra, Spain — €16.95
If you love to have an Irish connection with your food and drinks spread, then Rós is the rosé for you this summer. Produced by O’Brien’s own Wine Director Lynne Coyle, Master of Wine, with Bodega Tandem in the northern Spanish region of Navarra, Rós boasts an aromatic bouquet of ripe red fruits.
Petit Bourgeois Pinot Noire Rosé, Loire, France — €15.95
O’Brien’s only get a small supply of Petit Bourgeois every year — it sells out pretty quickly, and it’s easy to see why. Filled with mouth-watering red-berried fruit, with ripe strawberry notes on the finish, this is produced by the ‘King of Sancerre’, Henri Bourgeois, so grab it while you can.
