How can you avoid your hair becoming dry and splitting in the winter?

“One of the big problems you can have with your hair over the colder months is static electricity. This is to do with the dry air that’s both outside and inside. Outside the temperature has dropped, and inside there’s less moisture in the air because most buildings and homes have their central heating on. A lack of moisture creates static friction in hair, which is what causes split ends – so a little bit of hair oil, serum or a cream to help maintain moisture in your hair will help.”

How do you protect your hair from hat-wearing?

“A lot of people wear hats in winter which rub against your hair, causing friction (and hat hair!) that can lead to breakage. How can you prepare your hair for winter?

1. Get a haircut – ideally a  couple of inches. Once the ends have been removed, treat the lengths with a rejuvenating treatment such as OGX Renewing + Argan Oil of Morocco Penetrating Oil to help nutrients seep into the hair shaft and seal in the shine.
2. Take a break from heat styling.  Try to reduce the amount of heat styling, whether that’s straightening or blow-drying hair. Opt for heatless hairstyles, such as braiding or a messy bun.
