The 2019 Oscar nominations have been announced

The nominees for this year’s Oscars were officially announced this afternoon from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California by The Big Short actor Kumail Nanjiani and Black-ish star Tracee Ellis Ross.

Leading the nominations this year is The Favourite, which was co-produced by Irish production company Element Pictures, and received a total of ten nominations, including Best Screenplay and two nods in the Best Supporting Actress category. Actress Olivia Colman receives her first Oscar nomination for her starring role in the film. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper both received nominations for their starring roles in ‘A Star is Born’, with the film also nominated for Best Picture and Best Song for the hit ‘Shallow’.

The ceremony will take place on February 24.
