Success can take many different forms; getting that corner desk with a view and you very own PA, having a house/husband and 2.4 children playing by their white picket fence, or simply having a suitcase, an open itinerary and endless unexplored roads stretching out before them.
If you feel like you are constantly chasing after success but getting nowhere, maybe the tips below will help guide you in the right direction.
1. Be Kind
A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees. – -?Amelia Earhart
It’s the simplest but most valuable piece of advice that you will ever get?because people never forget how you made them feel. They might not particularly remember if you’re nice to them all the time, but they will ALWAYS remember when you were not. And at the very end of the day, your reputation is all you have. And try to stay out of drama. It never ends well.
2. Take Risks
You regret the things that you didn’t do more so than the things that you did do. ?-?Mark Twain?
When people have something that is good, but not great, they are scared of taking any sort of leap that might jeopardise what they already, comfortably, have. And if that is what you truly want, then perfect. But if you want more – out of a job, a relationship, your health, your friendships, your hobbies, then do not stick with something mediocre if fear of failure or loss is the only thing stopping you. Life gets faster and faster and people usually regret the things that they didn’t do more so than the things that they did do. Be brave, take that leap.
3. Procrastinate
Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted. – John Lennon?
…to a degree. I’m not advocating spending hours scrolling through Instagram instead of writing that book or going on that date, but a little time off never hurt anybody. It might actually get some otherwise untapped creative juices flowing. Remember – “a moment enjoyed is never a moment wasted.” (Full overuse of quote to make you feel less of a failure is advised.)
4. Intuition
Intuition is razor-sharp wisdom and logic working together. – Unknown
I’m always banging on about listening to that little voice, or that feeling in your stomach that’subconsciously alerts you to when things are either very very right or very very wrong. But hear me out. If you want to achieve success ?- in whatever part of your life – it is crucial that you tune yourself into what your gut is telling you. On some level, it is usually aware of things before your conscious mind is and that is seriously useful. Have a great-on-paper relationship but something feels “off'”? Got that promotion but there’s just something about the company that you can’t put your finger on that makes you feel uncomfortable? Listen, then try to figure out why you’re getting those vibes. It will save you potentially years of shitty situations that you could have avoided.
5. Do More For Less…At The Beginning
Do more than what you’re paid to do and one day you’ll be paid for more than you do. – Zig Ziglar
While this directly relates to the work aspect of success, it can be applied to any area of your life. If you push yourself a little in the beginning and do more than is expected or asked of you, it will pay off. Always.
