Backstage At Molly Goddard – LFW Insider

Everyone knows the kitchen is always the best room at any party. Acknowledging every gathering’s favourite hangout, Molly Goddard’s AW18 collection served up her signature party girl aesthetic in an industrial kitchen setting, complete with red wine and carrot sticks. The designer declared her woman “doesn’t get FOMO. In fact, she isn’t too sure what it stands for.”

Hiromi Ueda applies the finishing touches backstage at Molly Goddard.

Backstage the direction on the make-up was “’Effortless in a glam way’ – a confident woman who loves going out for a party. She can do her make-up herself at home. It’s real.” The person tasked with delivering this look, along with her army of highly skilled assistants, was MAC Pro artist Hiromi Ueda. “Molly’s girl is quite sophisticated. She knows how to wear these beautiful garments and she loves and enjoys fashion. She plays with make-up and knows how to make herself look quite cool,” explained Ueda. “It’s all about eyeliner. We wanted to create a perfect, graphic line. It’s quite thick at the end to make her look quite tough and strong, so no mascara. An empowerment eye, in many ways.” To achieve this striking eye, Ueda used a hightlight in the inner corner from the Hyper Real Palette and Black Liner (Chunky) on the outside. For the thinner line in the inner corner she used Retro Black Fluidline Pen. “This look is very wearable,” she explained.

“On the lips, I’ve used two lipsticks – Peach Stock to define the lip line and in the centre is Crème D’Nude. On the skin, I used Studio Moisture Fix, Timecheck Lotion, Waterweight Concealer and Waterweight Powder. “The skin was kept quite natural, using a minimum of products including Sculpt Powder, a touch of highlighter from the Hyper Real Palette in Flash +Awe.”
