Brad Pitt On Angelina’s Double Mastectomy: ?It Was Scary?

Earlier this week, we had new?#RelationshipGoals thanks to one-half of Hollywood’s most united couple sweetly gushing about his wonderful wife. Brad Pitt had only lovely things to say about Angelina as he discussed their hectic family life.

However, one topic that apparently wasn’t up for discussion was Jolie’s recent health battle; she publicly opened up about her decision to undergo two preventative cancer surgeries: a double mastectomy (she did this when she discovered she carried the gene that increased her risk of getting breast cancer by 87%), and the removal of her ovaries and fallopian tubes (she also realised she had a 50% chance of developing ovarian cancer).

This is no longer the case as?in a new interview which’saw the couple formally interviewed together for the first time in years, Pitt spoke about how the family coped as Jolie undertook the life-changing surgeries:

Pitt said he trusted his wife completely when she made the decision to undergo her surgeries, saying he believed she should do whatever she thought was necessary, though admitted it was a “scary decision” to have to make.

Jolie added that she knew she could could on her husband’s unwavering support: “I knew through the surgeries that he was on my side and that this wasn’t something where I was going to feel less of a woman, because my husband wasn’t going to let that happen.”

The Oscar winner, who lost her mother, grandmother and aunt to cancer, was lauded for speaking so openly about her decision, but said that she some received some “mixed reactions” ?after her initial reveal. However, Jolie said she has no regrets about the way they [the family] handled the situation.

“You never know what a reaction is – you have to just make the choices you make in life,” she said. “I made the choices I made because I believed they were right for me.” The 40-year-old said previously that she couldn’t wait to hit 50 because then “she would know she made it.” “Both my mother and grandmother started dying in their 40s,” she said.

Pitt added that any tough choices that were made were done so as to keep the family together.?”Whatever’s got to be done to keep the family together and keep the family together as long as possible is going to be done,” Pitt explained.?”This was her charge, no question. It’s a scary decision. There’s many things that can go wrong and go in many different directions.”

The full TV interview with the doting pair?is set to air next week, and though we can expect plenty of them in the coming weeks as they promote their new movie, their genuine devotion to each other is something else. We love that they are each others lobsters.
