Can’t decide on a wedding cake? Here’s 5 of the best Irish cake-makers to consider for your big day
23rd Sep 2019
The best part of any occasion is the cake. Eating it after a few too many drinks is the highlight of the night, or even a massive slice on day two with a cup of tea to ease your sore head. Whenever you do eat it, you’ll want it to be beautiful.
It can be stressful trying to decide exactly what style of cake you want on your big day. With Pinterest boards overflowing with inspirations, sometimes all these options can leave you feeling a little lost. Do you want something classic and elegant? Or unfussy and natural with split tiers for guests to choose from?
Most couples will choose something to reflect the style of their wedding. So a three tier cake with very simply and elegantly decorated may compliment the brides dress and room decor perfectly. Alternatively, if going for a more rustic theme a naked cake could be exactly right for you.
Here are some of our favourite Irish wedding cake specialists.
The Cake Cuppery
Based in Dublin, Cat specializes in bespoke styles to suit your occasion, with her designs ranging from simple and modern to more fun and quirky cakes.
Some of The Cake Cuppery’s signature flavours include Baileys Chocolate Biscuit cake and Whiskey Salted Caramel sponge, if you’re feeling a boozy choice.
Cove Cake Design
More of a minimalist? Suzanne Brady of Cove Cake Design is an expert at the perfect cake. Just take a look at her Instagram for a selection of flawless cakes, with clean and crisp designs that look too immaculate to eat.
Brady also has the most incredible selection of flavours, that frankly make it impossible to choose from including; a Champagne, Elderflower and Strawberry sponge, a Prosecco, Peach and Thyme sponge and a Lime, White Chocolate and Pistachio to name but a few.
2210 Patisserie
If choosing the flowers for your big day is just as important as the cake, then you’ll love Una Leonard of 2210 Patisserie’s designs. Almost all her cakes are heavily leaden with beautiful real flowers snaking up the three tiers.
Also did we mention she does macaron displays too?
Cupcakes and Counting
Based in Swords, Cupcakes and Counting also uses flowers in her designs. Despite how realistic they look, all the flowers are made painstakingly by hand from sugar paste.
Owner, Jen Rojas also makes use of darker floral designs which make a particularly dramatic centrepiece for an AW wedding.
If you recognise the name then you may have spotted her before, as was the baker behind Rosie Connolly Quinn’s wedding cake.
Primrose Bakery
Primrose Bakery offer a variety of cake styles, one being a naked cake like above. These are ideal for a more relaxed wedding as the cake looks far less formal, meaning it is also more likely to be eaten!
Owner, Helen McCann also has more colourful options, most recently featuring a navy and gold cake on her Instagram that is so striking we’ll be adding it to our wedding folders ASAP.
