The year 2019 appears to be the year of sequels. First, Margaret Atwood announced she would release a long-awaited sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale and now Irish author Cecelia Ahern has announced she has written a follow up to her debut novel, PS, I Love You.
It’s been 15 years since the author published her first book, and to say it was a smash would be an understatement; it remained in the number one best-selling slot in Ireland for 19 weeks and topped similar lists around the world before a film was made starring Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler.
It’s called ‘POSTSCRIPT’ and will be published in the autumn, in September 2019. It continues the story of Holly Kennedy and Gerry Clarke.
The first book focused on Holly and Gerry’s relationship and ten envelopes Holly received after Gerry’s death – one for each month after Gerry died.

“I’ve done it. I’ve written the sequel to PS I LOVE YOU and it’s titled POSTSCRIPT. It’s the P.S to my P.S of 15 years ago and writing it has been an emotional experience. I don’t know how I’ve succeeded in keeping this a secret for so long but I’ve been bursting to share it,” she wrote.

“POSTSCRIPT will be published September 19th in the UK & Ireland. I hope you’ll welcome back Holly…and Gerry…and ugly cry through the story as much as I did.”
Having sold over 25 million copies of her books around the world, we’re certain she’ll have many fans eager to know what comes next for the characters in such a beloved book.
