Celine Dion has spoken publicly for the first time since her beloved husband Rene Angelil’s death. Angelil died last month after a battle with throat cancer. He was 73-years-old and had three children with Dion. He was buried in Montreal on January 22nd. Celine did not speak at the funeral service, waiting until this week to put her grief into words.
The Canadian singer paid tribute to Angelil at a memorial in The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Dion spoke about how her husband was the force behind her amazing decades-spanning career, inking deals which saw her perform the hit song My Heart Will Go On in blockbuster movie Titanic as well as her residency in Las Vegas.
She said of his work ethic: ?I was never part of any of the meetings that he had where he had to say yes or no. He protected me from Day 1 to for the rest of my life, I am pretty sure of that.?
She also praised his diplomacy and innate kindness: ?Rene never hated anyone. Is it possible someone loves everybody? I don’t think so. But he never told me a person he disliked? Time was precious to him. He loved life so much, so very much.?
And then she shared an insight into what he was like watching television, observations so endearingly intimate they really make your heart go out to Celine and Rene’s children. When it came to?The Price Is Right he was always on the side of the particpant: ?He thought I was so good?I knew the prices for everything. I’m the one who orders the stuff online, so I know what I’m talking about… He was crying when the person at the end of?The Price Is Right?won the showcase.??A brand new car and a trip to Hawaii!? The person was winning and he was like, ?I’m so happy for them!? Rene always made people feel so good.?
