Chris Hemsworth Paid Off His Parents? Debt

Chris Hemsworth Paid Off His Parents? Debt

We were only recently bemoaning the fact that actor Chris Hemsworth doesn’t look like our favourite axe-wielding superhero any more, but news of his latest good deed means we’re going to let him off the hook. The adorable dad decided to thank his parents for their years of love and support (and you know, raising him) by paying off all their debts as a surprise. That’s bound to get you teary and increase your already profound love for the Thor star tenfold.

While Hemsworth didn’t reveal his lovely gesture to anyone outside the family, his brother, fellow actor and The Dressmaker star Liam Hemsworth, spilled the beans in an interview, such was his admiration for his sibling.

Liam told The Independent Chris called their father one day and told him to look at his bank account. “He [his father] called my brother Chris back and said: ‘I don’t know how to feel. Since I left home I have had debts, and I thought I’d be paying them off until I died and had this weight hanging over me, and now to have them completely cleared.’ They are so happy now and able to spend more time with us. I would love to be able to do something for my parents like that.” According to the interviewer, Liam got very emotional while talking about it – proud little brothers are the best.

Nothing soothes the soul quite like hearing such an uplifting story; there is frequent talk of how money can vastly change a celebrity, but Chris is proof that it can also offer those who come into fortune the opportunity to pay it forward with the people who matter most. The star is already known for his charity efforts, but this will surely strike a chord with anyone who has ever wished to give back to their own parents in such a major way.

Liam is also making his parents proud by choosing to become an ambassador for the Australian Childhood Foundation. His parents worked with the Foundation, supporting children who had gone through a trauma and now Liam is using his position to highlight the campaign and give it some star power: ?If you want to be a good person who adds to society, you have responsibility. That is something I take very seriously,? he said.

Are these pair contenders for the (joint) best son of the year award? We think so.
