These isolation-inspired travel posters will brighten up your day

These isolation-inspired travel posters will brighten up your day

In need of some relief from coronavirus negativity? Take a look at these vintage travel posters designed especially for self-isolation

During these uncertain times, many businesses and individuals have had to innovate and adapt to the changing days.

One of these individuals is designer and illustrator Jennifer Baer. Based in northern California, she has designed a series of coronavirus-inspired posters.

Now before you imagine artistic portraits of cells, surgical masks and hand sanitiser, you can think again. These posters are an ode to the holiday advertising of the 1940s and 1950s. A time before booking.com and travel shows, and well before Instagram made a destination famous in its small squares.

This was when you just had a poster to provide you with a snapshot of what a place might look like.

Three designs

These three designs, in particular, are encouraging people to holiday in their abodes by staying at home. And with the travel industry looking bleak for the coming months, it may be the only holiday we get — so make the most of it.

Visit your own bathroom poster, approx €11 at Society 6

The pictures are tongue in cheek but they are little rays of positivity in this parallel universe we find ourselves in. Like the above, which is encouraging us to visit our bathroom. So fill up the bath, make yourself a strawberry daiquiri, put on a swimsuit and pretend you are by the pool in the Costa Del Sol.

Visit your one house plant poster, approx €11 at Society 6

Over the last two years, plants became a polarising house trend. Now that you have the time, why don’t you visit the one house plant you own and pretend you are somewhere more tropical than Leitrim? Also, water it while you are there too. The final poster is encouraging us to partake in what the majority of us are doing anyway – surfing our couches. For ultimate fanciful holiday dreaming, why not stand up on your couch and play Surfing USA by The Beach Boys? You may just forget you are living in an estate.
