This weekend: Get inquisitive at the Festival of Curiosity

Don’t believe the hype of ‘curiosity killed the cat’ – remember that information brought it back. This Dublin-wide festival is a celebration of science, art, design and technology in 14 venues & spaces across the city centre. Split into two spheres, Playful Days for the family and Curious Nights for adults, there’s something there for everyone.

This weekend: Spy some new talent at Whelan’s Summer Watch 2018

Long renowned for being the best place to scope out undiscovered talent (both musical and comical), Whelans is staging its own 3-day festival this weekend to showcase the best in the city. More than 30 bands are playing in both the upstairs and downstairs venues all weekend, starting tonight, and it’s completely free to enter.

This weekend: Go back to your roots at the Dublin Quays Festival

Festival season is in full swing, but without a doubt, one of the biggest pains is getting in and out of the isolated venues. Dublin Quay Festival was designed with this in mind, with the venues in the centre of the city, with total ease of access. Spoken word, music, discussions and club nights make this seem like a brilliant celebration of the quintessential night out in Dublin.

This week: Defy gravity at Wicked at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre

The prequel to the iconic Wizard of Oz, Wicked has been taking to the stage in London and New York for well over ten years now, and it’s showing no sign of slowing down. The musical descended on the Bord Gáís Energy Theatre this week and is running til early September, so there’s no excuse for you to miss it.

This week: Take your pick at Trinity’s Summer Series

An eclectic mix of music’s most interesting acts, the Trinity Summer Series is in its second year at the city centre venue, with six nights of great concerts. Having gone to two shows here last year, I can vouch for the venue, with a gorgeous setting and great acoustics. Grace Jones and Wyvern Lingo are first up on Monday, with tickets still available for all shows.
