A day in the life of Deliciously Ella

Ahead of her  IMAGE event  on September 4 at Medley Dublin, Deliciously Ella told us all about a day in her life.

IMAGE: What does the average weekday day look like for you?

Ella: I get up about 6, check emails and our social media then go to yoga from 7-8, it always clears my head and gets me into the right frame of mind for the day.

Officially a yoga teacher!!! I’ve loved every second of the last month, it’s been such a powerful and transformational time and I’ve learnt so much both about the practice and myself. I’ve often struggled to find balance in my life, I have a tendency to take on a lot and do everything at a thousand miles an hour, I can be pretty emotional and taking ups with the downs isn’t my strongest quality – I feel everything so deeply and can get too caught up on the small things. This journey has helped me cement and expand the tools that balance that, it’s shown me how to step back from my constant stream of thoughts and has sparked my creativity more intensely than anything else in the last few years. I’m feeling so inspired and excited right now, being able to follow my dreams and passions and make them my reality is something I’m so incredibly grateful for and the people I’ve met in the last month have taught me more than I can say. For those wondering what’s next with my yoga, I’m still figuring out exactly how it will fit into Deliciously Ella going forward and truthfully I’m pretty nervous about starting to teach too as I’m still so new to it. I keep telling myself that every teacher started from this point though – everyone is a beginner at the start and we grow from there and that’s an exciting thought because the process of growing is going to be amazing. I’ve got loads more to learn and I can’t wait to keep exploring with you guys??

IMAGE: We love yoga too. What’s next then?

Ella: I then head to our deli with Matt and our dog Austin to grab breakfast (normally our Bircher muesli with coconut milk, some peanut butter and fruit compote) and check in with the team there before heading to the office.

IMAGE: We love your Bircher museli, but your granola is our favourite. Is that your normal morning then?

Ella: My days vary hugely so there’s rarely a normal morning. Some days I’m recipe testing for the book, app or filming videos, other days I’m recording episodes of our new podcast or working on our product development or meeting either existing or potential new stockists for them. I spend time with the team on our strategy and upcoming plans, I do lots of talks and events, and I run all of our social media accounts so that takes a lot of time in itself. I try my best to reply to everyone, which is a slightly mad commitment!

IMAGE: Your fans must really appreciate that, but when do you switch off?

Ella: I try my best to switch off at weekends, minus our social media accounts, but I just love what we do so much and always keen to start a new project so it often ends up taking up a lot of my time, between seeing friends and family. Nothing makes me happier than a big dinner on the weekend with friends, I’m obsessed with Indian food so that’s normally my go-to.

Join Ella Mills for delicious champagne and canapés (vegan of course!) on Tuesday, September 4 at Medley Dublin as we learn more about Ella’s career path from food blogger to successful entrepreneur. Ella will share with us her amazing story as well as her wealth of knowledge on healthy eating and veganism. To book tickets click here, for general enquiries call 01 271 9609.
