A rescue dog from Arizona, USA is set to become a Hollywood film star. Monte, a two-year-old terrier-mix has been cast as ‘Tramp’ in the Disney live-action remake of Lady and the Tramp.
Just 18 months ago, the scruffy-looking pup was a stray. Monte was taken into the care of Las Cruces animal shelter before being transferred to HALO (Helping Animals Live On) in Phoenix, Arizona.
‘Super friendly’

According to Heather Allen, CEO and president of HALO, “His notes showed that he was super-friendly, that he gives kisses and loves attention, and knows how to sit and walks well on a leash”.
This charming behaviour won the hearts of animal trainers, who were tasked by Disney to find the new star of Lady and the Tramp. Not only does Monte have clear star potential, but he also looks like the original, animated ‘Tramp’.
Speaking to the Albuquerque Journal, Allen said, “We knew they were looking for a pet for a movie, but we didn’t know what movie. It was top secret, of course.
“I think they knew they had a dog who could really fit the role they were looking for, but could also be a great family pet. These animals are part of their home. They’re part of their family, too,” she said.
