The Dublin Burrito Wars continue to require a lot of hardcore field research from students across the city- bless their little cotton socks.? Admittedly, there’s nothing to cheer you up on a cold grey day quite as much as a tortilla groaning with rice, salsa, guac and beans. Oh, and cheese and some kind of nod to protein. Carb loading was never so evocative of sunny climes and good times.
It’s high time our own in-house experts weighed in (little known fact: we have not one but two and a half Mexican citizens here at IMAGE Towers)? Cue the mariachi band. And the winner is? Saburritos (Pavilions, Liffey Valley and the Epicurean Food Hall) with Boojum and Pablo Picante (Clarendon Market and Baggot Street) running a photo finish for second place.
BTW, on the all too rare occasion when we take it up a good notch but still crave some chipotle, Triple Seven also makes us happy. Very happy. When that dead plain door on George’s Street swings open, it’s more like teleporting to San Diego via the Lower East Side, all noisy bonhomie, clattering plates and heady smells ?but it has a certain yo no se que. Could be those mainly tequila-based cocktails, which are a veritable wonder to (be)hold. Zero in on the 777 Margarita Especial for a real treat complete with lime sorbet on top or chase the worm in a truly terrifying Mezcal.
