Eight genius home gadgets that we wish we had invented

Eight genius home gadgets that we wish we had invented

We’re living in a world that’s complicated, where life is busy and time is of the essence. Thankfully, we’re also living in 2018, which means that developers and inventors are consistently expanding the horizons of convenience, both in our homes and in our lives at large. The fruits of their labour are wide-ranging and niche, and in most cases, they are nothing short of genius.

These gadgets are designed to save time, provide seamless assistance, and increase our overall life satisfaction as we go about our business. From sleeping to cooking and entertainment too, scroll on to see how each of these gadgets will make the rigmarole of day-to-day life that little bit (or in some cases, a LOT) easier.

1. Nebula portable projector

A projector that is incredibly small in size (when you consider the strength with which it transmits an image onto a facing surface), the Nebula Mars Portable Cinema also boasts loud audio and longer-than-usual battery life. Makes a really nice alternative to watching a movie off your laptop.

2. Homestar aqua planetarium

As if you needed to take another excuse to take a long, luxurious, calming bath. The next time your tub calls your name, consider adding this little light source to the mix, for a distinctly magical, “otherworldly” feel.

3. Noise-cancelling earphones

These earphones have the potential to save thousands of relationships all over the world. If you have a partner who snores, then you’ll know what we mean. By blocking out the sound of guzzling snores and outside traffic with whatever music/ relaxing noises you want (as they connect to phones, ipads and laptops), your odds of getting a good night’s sleep become a lot higher.

3. Pi wireless charger

This cone-shaped charger can charge any number of gadgets that are within its 12 inches radius. This is a brilliant way to avoid those arguments over who gets to use the charger next, or to get multiple devices charged up fast before heading off on a day trip.

4. Keyboard vacuum cleaner

Dust and crumbs can wreak havoc on your laptop, as any desk snacker will know. What’s more, a dirty keyboard becomes a breeding ground for germs and reduces a proper airflow for your electronic devices. Get this hand-held device for the clean-freak in your life.

5. Samsung smart fridge

A fridge freezer with built-in interior cameras and a Wi-Fi enabled touchscreen which connects to your phone so you always know what ingredients you do and don’t have for dinner. Yep, welcome to the future. It also features a CoolSelect Plus Zone which can change between fridge or freezer temperature (depending on your needs), and it plays movies and music on the screen. Cool, or what?

6. Brain-sensing headband

The Muse Sensing Headband has been dubbed a “personal meditation assistant”, created to help you achieve a better meditation practice. While you meditate, Muse measures whether your mind is calm or active. When you’re calm, you’ll hear peaceful weather sounds. When your mind wanders, the weather will intensify, guiding you back to a calm state. A brilliant idea for those of us who struggle to stay focused on channeling our inner zen.

7. Tile key finder tracker

Losing keys or a phone is an experience we can all identify with. Thankfully, with the help of the Tile tracker, those frantic moments are a thing of the past. Attach the tracker to your key ring and sync up to your phone; when it’s your phone that you can’t find, this tracker will make it ring, and vice versa. A veritable life-changer for the particularly forgetful individuals amongst us.

8. PancakeBot pancake printer

Pancake Tuesday just got a whole lot more interesting.

While we have you make sure to go and listen to our podcast The Spill.

This week’s episode kicks off with an examination of Janelle Monaé’s PYNK, which features her and her fellow dancers in opulent pink vagina trousers. Sophie and Rhona go on to discuss if people are treated differently because of their level of beauty and finish by helping a reader who can’t stop fantasising about women.
