5 inspiring garden spaces to easily recreate in your own home

Finally getting the time to tackle your garden but no idea what to do with it? Large or small, here’s some garden inspiration to get you started.

When we get the weather, it’s our national duty to make the most of it. With that in mind, we’ve collected a selection of beautiful outdoor spaces that may spark some ideas for your own little patch of the world.

1. Pot it

Simple yet impactful, this vertical garden is perfect for small spaces, particularly for homes that have extended right up to the garden’s end. For an Irish climate, try ferns and spider plants or if it’s a particularly sunny wall, garden herbs will thrive in warmer months. This one was made by Shivavello.

2. Tropical

Leafy tropical plants soften up this modern decking, and who wouldn’t want to get comfortable in those butterfly chairs once the sun sets and the fire pit gets going?

The Robin Boyd Bridge House in Melbourne is one of Australia’s most famous houses, not least because of Boyd’s (and a recent renovation by Stephen Jolsen) approach to the exteriors.

3. Canvas creativity

When you’ve got a walled white canvas, add depth with multiple planters, while colour can come in the form of bright furniture and flowers, depending on your gardening abilities.

4. Go Wild

One for the wild at heart, helping children identify wildflowers is also a lovely way to while away some time. Pick common flowers, leaving the roots behind, before pressing into a book and naming them.

5. Holiday style

This tiled and tiered garden was designed to increase the amount of natural light entering the basement level of a residence in Ranelagh. We love the mix of Mediterranean brights and how the sunny dining area is surrounded with leafy greens.
