Headless body sparks major police furore

A major police investigation was launched in Germany on Monday after a local person spotted a headless body lying near a stream.

The incident, which took place in Remstal near Stuttgart, happened late at night and the worried passer-by immediately called for police. When an officer arrived at the scene and realised what he was dealing with, he called for back-up.

The corpse was reportedly covered in blood but was slightly out of reach, so police cordoned off the area while approximately 20 firefighters attempted to retrieve it. It was only when they got close enough that the emergency services realised it wasn’t a body at all – but a doll.

A spokesperson later confirmed to Sky News, “It really looked like a dead body.”
