This week on Pinterest, we’re?going bananas for?berry-inspired hues. It’s been all lavender, lilac and ice-lollies in here?
Berry shades have been big in fashion and beauty for a while now – indeed, a deep-plum lip has become?almost a prerequisite for any self-respecting catwalk model. For A/W 2015, the trend finally showed up in interior design, in full-bodied?winterberry shades of pink and purple.
This year, purples?are going to be even more prevalent. Palettes will draw on berry colours like mauve, grape, and mulberry, depending on the season. For spring, softened pastel shades will of course be prominent, grounded by cream and grey accents as well as natural materials.
There are those who may be daunted by the idea of a purple sofa, but this room carries it off with aplomb. Featured in?Hans Blomquist’s 2014 book In Detail, this exquisite living space demonstrates how elegant purple can be?when done right. The pastel tones of the cushions bring the sofa down to earth, and the black finish of the fireplace keeps things?from becoming’saccharine.
A soft linen duvet cover from Anthropologie is always a good idea, especially?in a shade as dreamy as this one. Again, the hue is more earthy than candied.
Although not as warm as?Hans Blomquist’s iteration, this living room shot by Lerkenfeldt Photography utilises purple in an intelligent way. I love how all the disparate elements come together to manifest as a thoughtful and deliberately understated design.
