In very welcome Friday morning news, it appears our very own, Kerry-raised Michael Fassbender is single once again. The Shame actor who most recently starred as Steve Jobs in another take on the Apple founder’s life is said to have split from his girlfriend after just nine months of dating. Alicia Vikander’s loss is our gain (well, at least those of us who believe they’ll one day woo the, erm, well-endowed star).
Fassbender and Swedish actress Vikander met on the set of The Light Between Oceans last year but alas, their love is no more. The Irish/German actor is no stranger to falling for his co-stars, however, having previously dated Zoe Kravitz (with whom he worked on X: Men First Class) and Nicole Beharie (of Shame fame). Next up for Fassbender is a role in Assassin’s Creed in which he stars opposite French actress Marion Cotillard (the pair have already worked together on Macbeth). Though given that she’s happily married to Guillaume Canet, we doubt if another co-star dalliance could be on the cards.
Though we’d always have fancied him, even way back in his Guinness ad days, Fassbender has spoken openly about his success with women seeming to hinge on his success in Hollywood. Speaking to GQ back in 2013, the actor noticed the correlation between fame and women’s interest: “You become a lot more successful in terms of, like, talking to a girl. She’s all of a sudden more interested in me. I know that, like, three years ago, she would’ve walked away after two sentences left my mouth.”
We’d have stayed and listened, Michael, we’d have stayed. Please see the ‘about us’ page for our digits.
