Irish Actresses Saoirse Ronan And Caitriona Balfe Nominated For Golden Globes

Monaghan native Caitriona Balfe is one of the nominees announced today for the 2016 Golden Globe Awards. The former model was nominated for her leading role in historical science fiction drama Outlander.?Balfe’s co-star Tobias Menzies was nominated in the best supporting actor in a drama category. Other noteworthy Irish nominees include Emma Donoghue for her adapted screenplay for Room. That movie’s lead actress Brie Larson ?also nabbed a nomination. The movie, directed by Lenny Abrahamson, also received a nomination for best motion picture in the drama category.

Michael Fassbender is up for best actor in a drama. His portrayal of Steve Jobs has been widely acclaimed. Leonardo DiCaprio and Eddie Redmayne are in the same category. And the fabulous?Saoirse Ronan is up for best actress for the delectable Brooklyn.

In Gal Pal news, Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence are both nominated for best actress in a comedy or musical, for Trainwreck and Joy respectively. Expect some funny Instagram shenanigans on the night. In fact, Schumer has already started with this adorable #TBT.
