Whenever, wherever possible we believe in buying Irish big time. Sinead Brady picks her favourite gift ideas for people on the go.
Kinsale Leather Co. – The Baby Alabama Tote
The Kinsale Leather Co produces a range of stunning bags. My personal favourite The Baby Alabama Tote, is big enough for everything from a laptop to a pair of heels. It’s available in a range of colours but check out the taupe one – it also goes with every colour, is durable but is also a low-maintenance colour. Check it out from kinsaleleather.com or Arnotts for €225.
My Shining Armour’s handbag collection is perfect for the working and travelling lady. Classic yet cool, these clutch bags nail it. Each can be worn as a clutch or cross body bag taking you from the office to a dinner meeting. It’s no surprise that these bags are designed by company founder Nicki Hoyne. She knows what women want and these designs prove it. Available in alligator luxe olive green (€98), and the quirky yet classic zebra print (€110), my personal favourite is the velvet (€98) in rich deep maroon which would delight any woman this Christmas.
If you want something traditional and handcrafted, check out Bernie Murphy’s tweed pieces. The options are endless but if the lady in your life has to travel from cold Ireland to sunnier climates, and needs something practical, check out her Dunree Collar. It’s stylish, warm and perfect for folding up upon arrival in warmer climates. Not to mention it is a steal at €95 on Bernie Murphy.
Three Cork female entrepreneurs are behind these stunning 2018 planners. The daily planners are beautifully designed and help you map and track your goals. It is an ideal gift for the design savvy lady who loves a laugh on her way to ruling the world! The fact that the planner is both designed and manufactured in Ireland make it an even better gift. Check out this and more on Leanún Designs.
If you’re looking for timeless and sustainably designed Irish clothing, check out Orla Langan’s stunning collection. Everything is fun, functional and trans-seasonal. The ultimate pieces for a woman who travels for work are Orla’s Long Denim Skirt, the Denim Culottes or this incredible Hybrid Kimono Jacket.
Holos Skincare‘s excellent, multi-functional products mean that just one product is needed, which is particularly important if travelling. They smell of lime and juniper essential oils which are anti-bacterial and suitable for even the most sensitive skin. I love that the new range of ‘This is More’ products, when combined, address everything you need in skincare.
Merle O’Grady creates one-of-a-kind pieces that are perfect for changing up your work wardrobe. Her pieces are great for expressing individuality, while still looking polished and add to any basic outfit. Whatever you’re wearing, these handcrafted pieces are very Sophia Amoroso of Girl Boss fame and perfect for mixing up a look.
While new glasses may seem like a strange inclusion, when you shop with Optica you are not alone buying glasses, you are buying art. A glasses wearer myself, Optica is like a candy store of dream frames. Check out the Wolfhound range, designed in-house with Irish skin tones in mind.
Poppy Lockets are custom jewellery with a difference in that they tell a tale about the person wearing it. You choose a locket and personalise it using charms and accessories. What is held within the locket acts as a reminder of family and friends- not to mention moments past and present. Simple and stylish, it’s a sentimental gift that will mean a lot to anybody who travels for work.
