This warm Kerry home, with sea views, will cost you €900,000

If you’ve ever dreamed of living along the Wild Atlantic Way, with sea views from your living room, this Co Kerry home is on the market for €900,000

Set on more than two and a half acres of land, Ban Field House boasts stunning, southerly views over Kenmare Bay and the Caha Mountains. The two-storey property, which was built along the Wild Atlantic Way in 1993, is of an exceptional standard.

According to local estate agents, its natural stone facade blends in with its surroundings and seems to change colour with the seasons. What’s more, the house has been decorated in warm, neutral colours; creating a soft, cosy feeling throughout.

The property is in an ideal location, just five miles from Kenmare Town and within close proximity to The Ring of Kerry Golf Club, Coss Strand beach and the public piers at Templenoe and Blackwater. It also boasts electronic security gates, a CCTV system and sensor lighting.

Accommodation

Ban Field House measures approximately 3,885 square feet, with a number of indoor living areas and outdoor seating areas. These reception areas are located on the upper level of the house to maximise the views towards Kenmare Bay.

An open-plan living and dining room, with sea views, grants access to the spacious patio area; while a bright sunroom is an inviting place to escape on warm, summer evenings.

Elsewhere, the kitchen boasts handmade, solid-wood fitted units with a granite worktop. There’s also an Aga stove and built-in dishwasher. Nearby, there’s a separate breakfast room with easy access to the patio.

Wooden floors, which are pitch pine salvaged from an old brewery in Cork, are a key feature of this house. They help to blend the outside with the inside effortlessly, as does the exposed brick in the breakfast room and the wooden-covered radiators in the living area.

This rustic feel is softened by cornice edging between ceilings and walls, as well as recessed lighting, which features in most rooms. Not only that, but tip/tilt windows (imported from Denmark and installed in 2012) are double-glazed PVC, meaning they offer good insulation.

This house in Co Kerry also boasts four bedrooms and four bathrooms, with the master suite set over two levels.

Located off the study, this generous master bedroom over-looks the property’s tranquil gardens. It also has a spacious ensuite bathroom and dressing room, and it can be accessed by its own private stairs located on the ground floor.

Three additional double bedrooms (all of which have ensuite bathrooms and views over the garden, suit a large family or guests. Meanwhile, elsewhere on this level, there’s a linen room and utility room.

Outside

The grounds of this Kerry house are as inviting as its interiors. The patio on the first floor, which measures 12.3 x 2.6 metres, boasts south-facing views of Kenmare Bay, the Caha Mountains and Dinish Island.

What’s more, the extensive garden spans more than 2.5 acres, with manicured lawns, a decorative pond and a variety of shrubs, trees and plants.

A gravel walkway follows the course of a stream, which flows to the bottom of the property where there is both an orchard and woodland. A number of seating areas are dotted around the grounds where you can enjoy the vast array of colours and smells from the garden. There are also large garden sheds and a spacious garage.

At €900,000, it’s not exactly cheap – but it’s a dream home worthy of viewing all the same.
