Irish man Ben Kavanagh is currently in quarantine in the UK, after being evacuated from his apartment in Wuhan, China. The 24-year-old has just answered a range of questions in a Q&A video on YouTube

As the death toll from the coronavirus reaches 490, and with at least 24,324 people infected worldwide, Irish man Ben Kavanagh is settling into life in quarantine.

The psychology teacher, who is originally from Co Kildare, has been working in Wuhan, China for two years – but given the increased risk of infection there, he chose to be evacuated. He left Wuhan on a charter flight with a number of UK citizens and will spend the next two weeks in quarantine there before returning to Ireland.

In a new video shared by Ben with Channel 4, he answers questions from the public spanning all aspects of his life. From what life is like inside quarantine, to his relationships with other people there, to his intentions for life after quarantine – Ben covers it all.

He notes the generosity of the public, who have sent thousands of pounds worth of food and clothes, as well as the thoughtfulness of those who have sent well wishes and cards. “The community has just been fantastic,” he said, “they’ve been great to us”.
