Lena Dunham Kicks Back At Nasty Tabloid With Epic Instagram Post

LONDON, ENGLAND - JANUARY 15: Lena Dunham attends the UK premiere of "Girls: Season 3" at Cineworld Haymarket on January 15, 2014 in London, England. (Photo by Anthony Harvey/Getty Images)

Dear The Daily Mail, please stop body shaming women for the sake of newspaper sales. While there are expletives aplenty that we could use to express our rage at such goings-on, we’ll leave it at ‘it’s not very nice’ for now.

Lena Dunham is the latest (and she gets it a lot) in a long line of females to be on the receiving end of said nastiness for stepping out in a leotard-like onesie’designed by Mara Hoffman. Call it what you wish, a onesie, a jumpsuit, but do not refer to a woman, minding her own business, as an ‘eyesore’. Adding insult to injury, the paper then went on to describe Dunham as someone who has a ‘very laid back approach to her appearance’, which is obviously a not-so-well-veiled insult. They also commented on her make-up free face in a way that subtly suggests there’s something bad about being out in public without the full kit and caboodle. We disagree, passionately.

haters

Naturally, Lena Dunham hit back in the best way possible, by calling them out for their nastiness and turning it into one almighty positive.

What the Daily Mail calls an eyesore I call a damn dream, @marahoffman. This onesie takes me from @tracyandersonmethod to brunch to fetal position and I couldn’t feel more heroic. Was literally psyched about the paparazzi photo so I would have evidence of it #thanksforthehelpcreepyguyintruckerhat #OnesieNation

We salute you, Lena, and if you’re ever wearing clothes that you don’t like but ‘society’ deems more ‘appropriate’, you’re doing something wrong. As we (and Taylor Swift) say far too many times, haters gonna hate.

Happy halloween! I personally switched gears and decided to go as a girl with thinning eyebrows and a zit
