With nominations now live for the the fourth incarnation of the Image Interiors & Living Design Awards, meet the judges who will be deciding on this year’s winners.
The Image Interiors & Living Design Awards celebrate creativity and craft at the heart of Irish design. Seeking to acknowledge the best that the industry has to offer, nominations are currently open to the public, allowing you to put forward your personal Irish design champions in the categories of Best Fabric, Best Tableware, Best Collectors’ Pieces, Home Product of the Year, Furniture Designer of the Year, Best Collaboration, Interiors Instagrammer of the Year, Emerging Design Talent, Independent Retailer of the Year, Interior Designer of the Year, and a new category, Architect of the Year.
So, who will be deciding on the winners out of all the talented nominees? Meet this year’s judging panel…
Amanda Kavanagh, editor, Image Interiors & Living
As editor of Image Interiors & Living, Amanda is always on the lookout for new and exciting developments in Irish design. She also has an eye for what will resonate with readers.
Alex Milton, head of the school of design, NCAD
In his role as head of the school of design at NCAD, Alex helps to nurture the next generation of emerging Irish design talent, and recognises genuine innovation in this sphere.
Niamh Barry, artist and light designer
As a creative who is constantly pushing the limits of her craft and with a plethora of international commissions and exhibitions, Niamh is perfectly placed to add an artist’s perspective to the judging panel.
Clare Grennan, co-owner of Irish Design Shop
Clare and co-owner Laura Caffrey won the Independent Retailer of the Year title at our 2018 Awards, but this year Clare is on the other side of the process, joining our judging panel. Constantly meeting Irish creatives when deciding what to stock and by collaborating with them, Clare has a unique insight into the craftspeople working around the country.
Karen Hennessy, CEO, Design & Crafts Council of Ireland
As CEO of the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland, Karen has an invaluable perspective on the creative industry in Ireland. She also understands the importance of promoting Irish design at home and overseas, and this is something she brings to the judging panel each year.
Gemma Tipton, art & design journalist
A regular contributor to Image Interiors & Living magazine, as well as many other titles, Gemma has written about a wide variety of subjects in the world of Irish design. She is therefore well positioned to pick the most promising nominees in multiple categories.
Nominations for the Image Interiors & Living Design Awards close on July 11, so make sure to nominate your favourites in each category here before the deadline.
