Have you ever had one of those days that screamed for a wine and chats sesh with your girlfriends? Enter Image.ie’s podcast, The Spill. The Spill is hosted by our very own self-proclaimed agony aunts Sophie White and Rhona McAuliffe. With a mix of discussion on current affairs, arts and culture and some healthy advice to our listeners, it’s the best place to unwind and deliberate the issues affecting Irish women today.

Happy Halloween! This week’s episode features some suitably scary thoughts – men in #MeToo and sexy Halloween costumes. Shudder.

Sophie and Rhona kick things off by discussing how men have been affected in the post-#MeToo world. Women have had the opportunity to speak about the issues that negatively affect them on a new-found platform for the past year, but this week, men got the opportunity to do the same. Author Caitlin Moran posed a question to the men of Twitter, asking them how they are faring with modern life, and the responses were vast. Mental health, gender roles and toxic masculinity were discussed, and men were able to talk to each other about how they felt. Rhona empathised with the men, but Sophie was less than enthusiastic about their reasons for feeling disempowered.

For the week that’s in it, our hosts are discussing the contentious issue of sexy Halloween costumes – good or bad? Rhona hasn’t got a lot of time for ‘hot’ Halloween costumes – as she says, ‘pin the tail on the Spandex’ goes against the purpose of having fun at Halloween. But Sophie is more open to the idea of using Halloween to be sexy – she thinks that the opportunity to explore sexuality is a good thing, and shouldn’t be shamed. What do you think?
