Last night saw the celebration of 10 years of the?Meteor?Choice?Music Prize and to mark the occasion, a one-off special event?in association with Samsung took place in the?Mansion House, Dublin.
After drinks and nibbles in Fire, it was on to the big gig. Performing on the night was an eclectic mix of past Album of the Year Prize winners: The?Divine Comedy,?Julie Feeney,?Adrian Crowley and?Delorentos. They were joined across two stages by 2014 nominees?The Riptide Movement and?We Cut Corners, in the intimate setting of the Round Room. A fantastic celebration of the?Meteor?Choice?Music Prize, but also of Irish music.
The?Meteor?Choice?Music Prize has become one of the highlights of the Irish musical calendar since its inception in 2005 and is awarded to the Irish Album of the Year, as chosen from a shortlist of ten releases by a panel of twelve Irish music media professionals and industry experts.? The winning act receives €10,000, a prize fund which has been provided by The Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) and The Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA).
