Now that Ikea is open again, here are the summer picks we’ll be adding to our trolley
08th Jun 2020
If you’re planning a trip to the Swedish furniture giant, they have loads of summery buys that might just creep into your trolley.
It was the question on people’s lips for weeks, as we took the opportunity of lockdown to spruce up our homes: ‘When will Ikea reopen?’. Today is that glorious day, and although we didn’t join the queue this morning, plenty of us will be making a trip to pick up a Billy bookshelf or some Ribba frames in the next few weeks.
Anyone who’s been through the doors of Ikea before will know that no matter how carefully you plan, you’re bound to come out with a few more items than you meant to. Rather than resist it, we’re going to embrace it on our next trip, and use it as an excuse to pick up some nice summery things to brighten up our homes. Here are some of the things that might find their way into our trolley.
Skogsfibbla duvet cover and pillowcase
New bedsheets are a quick way to brighten up your bedroom, and this jungle-themed one is guaranteed to inject a touch of colour. Double Skogsfibbla duvet cover with 2 pillowcases, €20.
Solblekt picnic blanket
Picnics are set to be a definite feature of our summer plans, whether with friends in the park or on a family trip to the beach. This picnic blanket will add a tropical vibe to your meal, and its straps mean that it can easily be wrapped up once you’re done. Solblekt picnic blanket, €25.
Kryddpeppar plant stand
Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, this plant stand has a removable tray, and will add some height to your pots. Its pale pink shade will also work with a large range of colour schemes. Kryddpeppar plant stand, €22.
Tiphede rug
Made from recycled cotton, this neutral rug would look great in any room in your house, while its woven design adds a touch of texture. It’s also an incredibly low price for a rug of this size. Tiphede 120 x 180 cm rug, €10.
Misterhult pendant lamp
Designed to have a low environmental impact, this pendant light is made from parts of the bamboo plant that would usually be discarded. Its woven design adds soft shadows when illuminated. Misterhault pendant lamp, €60.
Tjillevips basket
Handwoven from banana fibres, this beautiful basket is handy for providing storage in any corner around your house. It’s available in two sizes. Tjillevips basket 50cm, €25.
