Our Christmas Event Guide

Forget spending the Christmas break ascertaining with your extended family that yes, you still remain unmarried and yes, you are aware that you are getting on. And yes, we would love more wine, keep it coming in fact. Sometimes the best kinds of Christmas memories are made creating new ones. Luckily, this year in particular, there’s a collection of fabulous events around the country that will keep you from wanting to throw a turkey leg at the majority of your family.

The Christmas Concert Featuring The Snowman, Friday 19th– Sunday 21st of December, National Concert Hall.

If you can tell us anything that says Irish Christmas more than ?Walking in the Air?, we’ll give you a mince pie.

Beyond Pebbledash:Christmas and Hanukkah “Living Room” Light installation, Sunday 21st of December at 3pm, Collins Barracks.

To celebrate the shortest day of the year, the National Museum of Ireland will have a Christmas and Hanukkah “Living Room” light installation, along with a contemporary dance performance with Keren Rosenberg. There’s no booking required and entry is free.

A Most Peculiar Wintry Thing, Saturday 20th – Sunday 21st December, The Ark.

One to bring the kiddos/borrow some from your siblings, A Most Particular Wintry is a festive music event for ages 4+. It features four wondrous musicians and some light fingered animation to ?explore the magic and mystery of all things snowy?, too cute.

Christmas Sample Sale – Market, Friday 19th – Sunday 21st December from 11am, The Italian Quarter.

Here you can get a few last minute style buys from the likes of Smash, Mismash, kling, Covet, BB Dakota, Fenchurch, Supreme Being, and DC Shoe. There will also be live music from Redmonk, mulled wine, minced pies and other Christmas treats available.

Winter Wonderland Nights, Saturday 20th December at 5pm, Mansion House Dublin.

The Mansion House’s Winter Wonderland evening features a stilt walking Ice Queen, wine reception, 5 course meal and entertainment.

Elf The Musical, Friday 19th December – Saturday 10th January, Bord Gais Energy Theatre.

Starring our beloved Aoibhinn McGinnity and based on the endearing New Line Cinema Christmas movie, Elf. If any of our favourite Christmas movies were destined to make a sparkling musical, it’s this one.

And for New Years?

Dublin New Years Festival, Tuesday 30th December – Thursday 1st January, 5 Clarendon Mews, Lad Lane, Dublin 2.

Featuring all of our favourite Irish bands from 2014 like Kodaline, James Vincent McMorrow and Walking on Cars, Dublin’s New Years Festival promises to be a memorable night for all the right reasons.
