Recipe: Super Sweet Smoothies That Are Really Good For You

If, like us, you lost your mojo somewhere between the languid days of Christmas week and the misery that is the longest, dryest January in the history of time, one of the easiest ways to get a pep back in your step is with nutrition. But because it’s a tough enough time of year as is, and the thought of knocking back?a glass of green, vegetable-heavy sludge every morning does little to excite us, we’re easing ourselves in gently with something that still feels like a treat. Packed full of goodness and all kinds of superfoods, while at the same time feeling satisfying our sweet tooth, these two smoothie recipes from nutritionist Erika Doolan who has?teamed up with Musgrave Marketplace.

Berry Blast

Ingredients

230ml Almond Milk
1 peeled and frozen banana
1 tsp Oats
1 tbsp Cashew Butter
half of 1 pod Vanilla Pod
12 Blueberries
6 Strawberries
1 tbsp Flaxseeds
1 tbsp Pumpkin Seeds

Method

1. Slice your vanilla pod in half and scrape the contents of one half into your blender with a knife.
2. Add the remaining ingredients and blend until smooth.
3. Pour into a glass and serve

Chocolate Dream

Ingredients

230ml Almond Milk
1 whole, de-stoned Avocado
1 tsp Sesame Seeds
1 tsp Cacao Powder
1 tbsp Raw Honey
100 ml Coconut Water

Method

1. Scrape the contents of the remaining half of your vanilla pod into your blender with a knife
2. Add the remaining ingredients and blend until smooth.
3. Pour into a glass and serve
