11 of the best staycation options on offer in Munster this summer

Looking closer to home for a summer holiday? Here are 11 of the best staycation options from camping to hotels in Munster this summer

If there is one thing Covid-19 has done for us, it’s that we have been forced to look inwards.

Whether it has been reassessing our life plans, our jobs, our commute, or our emotions, we have started to focus on what is around us. This also rings true when it comes to tourism.

Our Spanish holiday dreams may be cancelled, but the Irish reality trip is here.

And it is delightful.

There is a myriad of staycation options on offer throughout all four provinces, but we decided to delve deep into all Munster has to offer.

From the rolling hills of Kerry to the glistening coast of Waterford, there is something for everyone. Whether you desire to stay close to the ground by camping or wish to live the life of a queen in a manor – all tastes are catered for.

So here are our top picks for a summer staycation in the home of the red army.

Killarney Glamping at The Grove

For the couples of Ireland, Killarney Glamping offers a truly unique and romantic holiday by providing privacy and intense relaxation. This couples-only accommodation has views of the Killarney mountains, while the main town and national park are less than a mile away. Find out more here.

Celtic Ross Hotel

Located in Rosscarberry on the stunning west Cork coast, the Celtic Ross Hotel is an ideal staycation spot for those who want great food and a calm vibe. The hotel’s dining options embrace the “farm to fork” concept and the chefs champion a sustainable ethos by using a wide range of local ingredients. Trust us, you will be dreaming about the food for months afterward.

Parknasilla Resort & Spa

The name ‘Parknasilla’ has long been associated with luxury and while it still is, it’s also a brilliant staycation for families. The hotel strives to ensure all amenities are as child-friendly as possible and offers a range of accommodation options from family rooms to woodland villas. Plus, it’s in a perfect location to explore the Ring of Kerry, the Wild Atlantic Way and the Beara Peninsula.

Adare Manor

For the ultimate luxury staycation, why not treat yourself to a night in Adare Manor? Situated in the centre of the picturesque village of Adare, the five star hotel provides excellent food, great golf and stunning accommodation.

Urban Tranquilatree

Looking for an urban retreat with a difference? Then look no further than this stunning treehouse situated just five minutes from Cork city. This Airbnb allows you to escape from the city, while always keeping one foot in the hustle and bustle. This property is worth the stay for the views alone.

GN Ballykisteen Golf Hotel

In a peaceful countryside location of Tipperary, the GN Ballykisteen Golf Hotel is perfect for those who want a quiet retreat with some golf on the side. Guests can also pamper themselves with a relaxing, natural treatment at Ballykisteen Beauty & Treatment Rooms and have full use of the leisure facilities. If you wish to venture further, both the Galtee Mountains and the scenic Glen of Aherlow are nearby.

Browne’s Farmhouse, Townhouse and Villas

Waterford is a treasure trove of beauty from Ardmore to the Waterford Greenway. Browne’s Farmhouse, Townhouse and Villas offer beautiful self-catering accommodation for families in close proximity to all of the goodness The Déise has to offer. Find out more here.
