Struggling to keep the kids entertained? The Ark just released a free activity pack for children to try at home

While keeping children occupied under lockdown is no easy task, The Ark just made it a little easier

Parents across the country have their hands full as they try to balance work and parenthood entirely from their living rooms. Most have already tried baking, drawing, painting and everything in between — and there are still two weeks to go.

Like so many other organisations, The Ark (Ireland’s Cultural Centre for Children in Temple Bar) has closed their building until 29th March in line with current guidelines. This meant that the programme running there ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ about the world of astronomy and space had to finish a couple of weeks earlier than planned.

This special space-themed visual art programme included an exhibition detailing early astronomy, vintage sci-fi toys, publications and space-related artwork as well as a workshop in painting, drawing and 3D modelling workshops.

But even though The Ark is closed, they have today made available online the pack which they created for schools to use in the classroom around the programme (along with the teachers’ pack too) so children can try their hand at some creative activities at home with whatever materials they may have available there.

Both packs can be found at ark.ie/schools/classroom-resources under the Fly Me to the Moon section.
