The Golden Globes – Winners

And we’re off. Award Season is now officially in swing with last night’s Golden Globes delivering very few surprises in a year that was dominated with strong performances.

Steve McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave emerged as the Best Motion Picture in the Drama category. That movie’s Chiwetal Ejiofer and Michael Fassbender both missed out on statuettes for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor respectively with Dallas Buyers Club leading man Matthew McConaughey winning for Best Actor in the?drama category and his co-star Jared Leto snaring the Best Supporting Actor nod.
Cate Blanchett surprised no one with her win for Best Actress (Drama) in?Blue Jasmine. ?

American Hustle emerged as the winner in the Comedy or Musical category, nabbing Best Motion Picture and its leading ladies Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence earned themselves Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Comedy) and Best Supporting Actress statuettes.
Leonardo Di Caprio won best actor for the bacchanal? The Wolf of Wall Street in the Comedy or Musical category and Alfonso Cuar?n won best director for Gravity.

Breaking Bad won for Best TV Series and its Bryan Cranston for best actor. Meanwhile House of Cards? Robin Wright Penn won for Best Actress in a TV series (Drama).?Presenter Amy Poehler won Best Actress in a TV series (Musical or Comedy)?for her role in perennial favourite Parks and Recreation with Andy Samberg winning Best Actor for the new sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Woody Allen was honoured by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association with the?Cecil B. DeMille Award. During the ceremony his estranged son, the broadcaster and activist Ronan Farrow, tweeted ?Missed the Woody Allen tribute – did they put the part where a woman publicly confirmed he molested her at age 7 before or after Annie Hall?’referring to Allen’s adopted daughter, Dylan. Dylan accused the director of molesting her 20 years ago and spoke about the incident in Vanity Fair last year.
