Date night looks a little different during lockdown, but it can still be pretty great. Here are some of our favourite ideas that we’ve seen
It’s safe to say that plenty of things have changed during the coronavirus pandemic, and our relationships are undoubtedly one of them. If you live with your partner, rather than perhaps seeing them for a few hours a day, you’re now trying to work, relax, and maybe even care for children all in one space together, all the time.
This alone can put a strain on things, and many couples are also missing their ‘date nights’, where they perhaps go out for dinner or see a film, anything to spend quality time and relax together. However, the people of Twitter have been showing us their ingenious ideas for how to still have date nights when you can’t leave the house. Here are some of our favourite ideas.
If you and your partner like to get a little competitive, this idea of setting up your own crazy golf is perfect, and sure to have you both laughing in no time. Maybe you can even think of a different activity that could be recreated in your back garden.
If you can’t go to the cinema, why not bring the cinema to you? These adorable pictures show that it doesn’t take much to make the occasion feel much more special than just sticking a film on the TV, so why not pick up some snacks next time you’re at the supermarket, and get crafty with tickets and signs?
Chopped is an American reality show where chefs are given a mystery basket of ingredients to make three dishes from, so this date night is another fun way to get a little competitive, and you (hopefully) get dinner at the end. If you want to keep things a little more relaxed, why not try following a new recipe together to make dinner together?
Right now, any change of scene is welcome, so this couple had the idea to have dinner in their caravan. Even though they were still in their own driveway, it still feels like a trip away from the house. You could also try having dinner in your garden or on your balcony to mix things up.
There’s nothing like home videos to bring up happy memories and laugh at your past selves, so spending an evening reliving good times is a perfect feel-good date night. If you’re a younger couple, why not share home video footage of each other as children (if you can stand the embarrassment!).
Whether it’s Paris, a ski holiday or just a trip to the beach, make it happen in your living room. Make do with whatever you have to hand, dress for the occasion, and you’re guaranteed a memorable evening.
