A thunder and lightning weather advisory has been issued for the entire country today

A weather advisory notice for thunder and lightning activity has been issued for the entire country until tonight

Met Éireann has issued a thunder and lightning weather advisory notice for the entire country.

The advisory is valid until 11 pm tonight, with the weather forecaster saying weather warnings could be possible.

The thunderstorm activity will develop today, especially in parts of the midlands, west, and north.

A yellow thunderstorm warning was in place yesterday for Munster, Connaught, and parts of Ulster and Leinster. ESB Networks reported various faults throughout the weekend which were due to lightning.

Weather for the week

The weather for the remainder of the week is a mix of dry spells and showers. Tomorrow will be mainly dry in the morning with isolated showers becoming more heavy and frequent as the day progresses. The will be heaviest in Leinster.

Wednesday will see showers mostly in the south and southeast with dry and sunny weather developing for the rest of the country. Temperatures will reach 18 to 19 degrees generally.

Thursday will be the same with showers most frequent in Munster and Leinster. While on Friday, showers will be confined to Ulster with dry weather elsewhere and sunshine spreading from the west.

Met Éireann says current indications suggest a spell of warm and settled weather may return next weekend as pressure builds over Ireland again.
