It is that time. Thanks, John Lewis for giving us Christmas FOMO (already) and making us feel extra festive this Friday morning. The John Lewis Christmas ads are the stuff of TV legend at this stage, and almost every year, they kill us. From last year’s #BusterThe Boxer to the #ManOnTheMoon, the team know how to (intentionally) pull our heartstrings but we’re hooked nonetheless.
And this year, the ad’s main character in #UnderTheBed is a cross between the Gruffalo and a big cuddly teddy bear, named Moz. It tells the story of a little boy and his friendship with an imaginary adorable monster living under his bed. The clip comes from a new director, in the shape of Oscar winner Michel Gondry – the brains behind the Jim Carrey classic Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind. The accompanying track is a cover of The Beatles song Golden Slumbers by Elbow.
It has divided critics but it’s warm and lovely of a chilly morning.
Christmas is officially almost here, so watch and enjoy.
