Why We’re Best Friend Crushing On Anna Kendrick

Why We’re Best Friend Crushing On Anna Kendrick

Anna Kendrick is the type of celebrity we genuinely believe could be our best friend. She’s sassy, runs a good Twitter account, and when we’re done singing cups and braiding our hair we can raid her wardrobe. Before Pitch Perfect 2 hits cinemas, we look at the reasons why you need to be crushing on Kendrick.

1. The way she handled studio executives asking her for a sexy pose

In recent days, Anna Kendrick sparked a mini-revolution on social media when she revealed how she refused to strike a sexy pose on Pitch Perfect 2‘s promotional poster. The actress felt that a hands on hip pose wasn’t something her character in the movie, the self-assured Beca Mitchell, would do. Kendrick said that the studio ?were sweating because I wouldn’t strike a sexy pose.?

While Hollywood executives fretted, fans embraced this outlier image. Who knew a female lead could be empowered looking as opposed to an airbrushed pair of drawn-attention-to-hips? Fans tweeted and Instagrammed images of them imitating Beca under the hashtag #BossPitch

The PHOTOSHOP!!! That’s serious commitment! I love it!

2. Her Twitter

Kendrick has arguably the best Twitter of any Hollywood actor going. She’s hilarious. Case in point:

She has the same party playlist as the rest of us.

She’s a diplomat in the making.

How she and her family reacted to the nude photos hacking scandal was gold.

Maybe Anna should be running for the Democrat ticket?

She’s pale too, so we get this so much.

A staffer here just got told by a doctor she has knock knees (it was me), so this is a solidarity inclusion.

3. The fact she has to sing Cups all the time and never complains

Anna Kendrick has had to sing the Cups song more times than an Irish language trainee teacher on a working summer holiday teaching in Connemara. When the actress sang this song in the audition scene in Pitch Perfect, it became an immediate hit, and Anna has had to perform it at regular intervals ever since. And she hasn’t complained once. Here she is reacting to its five week run in the Billboard top ten nearly two years ago.

All together now, you’re going to miss me when I’m gooooooooone.

4. Her red carpet style

Anna tends to favour US designers and has been spotted at front row shows for Rebecca Minkoff, Tory Burch and Carolina Herrera. For awards season this year she went full Disney princess. After all, she was playing Cinderella in Into the Woods. There was this salmon Thakoon dress at the Oscars.

For the Golden Globes she blew us away in this dreamy Monique Lhuillier.

Anna’s All American Girl style has landed her a series of campaigns with Kate Spade. We loved this cute short they released together last Christmas.

When she’s not going for full-length glamour, Anna tends towards accessible outfits. Her somewhat attainable wardrobe is another reason we think she’s the tops.

However, this outfit at the Grammys was perfection. It takes a certain kind of charisma to work a suit on the red carpet. Anna Kendrick charisma.

5. Her movies are perfect Friday night in fodder

Anna first came across out popcorn radars as Jessica in Twilight, the slightly whiny friend of Bella. Say what you want about Twilight – it’s a weird pro-life fable and vomits on established vampire lore – it’s a great movie for when your brain is fried.

She was amazing as the robotic Natalie in Up in the Air, who learns how to be a decent human being under the tutelage of George Clooney’s weary businessman. Kendrick got nominated for a Best Supporting Actor for the role.

Then there’s Pitch Perfect. This tale of a bunch of misfits with hidden vocal talents taking their pipes all the way to the a cappella college finals is the ultimate feel-good movie. How excited are you for the sequel, Pitch Perfect 2?
