Calvin Harris And Zayn At Twitter War Over Taylor

Calvin Harris And Zayn At Twitter War Over Taylor

Calvin Harris attends the 2015 Billboard Music Awards at MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 17, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

While the entirety of Ireland was keeping up with the Roses last night on RTE1, teen Twitter was in a tailspin as Calvin Harris and Zayn Malik had a bit of high noon moment over a throwing shade retweet from the beautiful former One Directioner.

FEUD.

This is what happened: Zayn Malik retweeted a meme that compared Taylor Swifts stance on paying for music with that of Miley Cyrus. Miley previously said in an interview, ?I’ve made my money. If no one buys my album, cool. It’s fine. I’ve got a house, and I’ve got dogs that I love. I don’t need anything else.? Taylor famously pulled her music from Spotify earlier this year over a disagreement with the Swedish company over the money she was being paid. She later wrote an open letter to Apple Music over their plans to not pay artists during the trial period. Calvin, the country music turned pop singer’s boyfriend, was very proud of her.

As soon as Zayn, cheekily, shared the comparative image, Calvin waded in with the f word: ?You’ve made your money? Cool…f*** the 99% of musicians who depend on these services to survive right? Yeah f*** em?

He then referenced Taylor’s crusade for paying artists.

When Zayn took offense at Clavin taking offense, things became farcical.

Zayn has since deleted the original retweet.

Calvin’s starting Twitter wars and ending them on polite notes is evocative of Taylor’s recent spat and make up with Nicki Minaj over last month’s VMA nominations. Taylor read into Nicki’s criticism of the snubbing of the video Anaconda for the main prize as something directed at her personally, as opposed to a critique of the awards and industry itself. If we have learned anything from these past few weeks, it is that Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris spend a lot of times on their phones taking offense. Just like the rest of us.
