Today we’ll finally know the result of our landmark same-sex marriage referendum. The past 24 hours have had us in a tizzy as we flocked to the polls to cast our votes, and all eyes have been on us as we wait with baited breath – do we say Yes or No? The next few hours will tell us.
What we’ve really been touched by, especially in the last day or two, is the overwhelmingly positive coverage Ireland has received from the world’s media, people and some famous celeb faces. For a relatively small nation, we’ve shown those watching from around the globe that you don’t have to be the biggest to pack a real punch. Ireland is in the spotlight for the loveliest of reasons, and the outpouring of love sent our way from so many has got us all emotional and teary-eyed. (We’ll need a million tissues today).
ICYMI:?Ireland said YES
It all rather surprised us just a little, and we don’t really know why as there’s never been a better time to celebrate everything positive about our home country – surely we’re more than deserving of a few kind words?
Ireland basically took over twitter last night, and many of our favourite celebrities, publications and websites from all over showed us some love and tweeted their support (thanks guys!). From Mia Farrow to Zach Braff (his tweet stole our hearts) and our own Dara – Briain, the positivity just kept on coming. We’re flattered and humbled by it all. Here some of our favourite messages, which did you like the most?

Anyway, from an empty hotel bar outside Bournemouth, People of Ireland, I raise my glass to you. You did us proud today.
