In case you weren’t aware, Christmas is coming. And nothing reinforces the impending festive spirit like the rollout of Christmas ads from many iconic brands. First to debut their beautifully cinematic offering is Burberry. And while it’s a visual joy to behold, the best thing about it is that it features a very dashing Domhnall Gleeson as the leading man.
The 33-year-old Dubliner’stars in the brand’s beautiful new Christmas video, which serves as a miniature?film and tells the tale of?Burberry founder Thomas Burberry (played by Gleeson) and’reimagines key events that have shaped the company’s history and values. A star-studded cast feature alongside Gleeson: Sienna Miller plays his wife, Dominic West appears as Ernest Shackleton, the polar explorer who wore Burberry for three expeditions, and Lily James plays a fictional pilot based on Betty Kirby-Green, who flew from England to Cape Town in 1937 dressed in Burberry.
The clip, which reportedly cost around $10 million to make, came about after Burberry CEO Christopher Bailey had said they wanted to tell the story of Thomas Burberry “in our own words.” The clip is the first of several the brand will be rolling out in the run up to Christmas.
“This Christmas, as we celebrate our 160th anniversary we wanted to tell the story of Thomas Burberry – pioneer, inventor, innovator, and the man behind the iconic trenchcoat – in our own words,” said Bailey.
While we object to many a publication claiming Gleeson as British since the ad premiered online (please), we can’t object to the actor himself; he is the perfect leading man, and so, so cool.

We feel festive already.
