BAFTAs 2016: The Winners

While we were fussing over all the red carpet action over yonder, the BAFTA trophies were given out to those who excelled in their craft in the world of film. The BAFTAs are always quite tame and asides from Stephen Fry’s humorous quips, it’s safe and enjoyable. This one is the last award ceremony before the Oscars on the 28th, so it’s a final chance to see who is likely to’scoop up the prestigious statuette.

ICYMI: BAFTAs 2016: All The?Fashion From The Red Carpet

Brooklyn nabbed?the first prize of the evening winning Outstanding British Film (we know it’s an Irish film really, but it was partly funded by the BBC so hence it was eligible for the category) and favourite to win the Oscar for Room Brie Larson also took home the Best Actress trophy for her role. Larson didn’t attend, so director Lenny Abrahamson?accepted the award on her behalf.

Leonardo DiCaprio won his first-ever BAFTA for Best Actor in The Revenant (which was also awarded the title of Best Film), so if he doesn’t get the Oscar, we’ll eat our hats, and he’ll probably quit acting.

We’re also devastated that this pair avoided the infamous BAFTA Kiss Cam:
